Moroccan Black Soap: Directions for Use, Benefits, and Usage Tips

Moroccan Black Soap: The Hammam Essential

Moroccan black soap, called Beldi in Arabic, is the pillar of the traditional hammam ritual. Used for centuries in Morocco, this 100% natural soap has become a natural beauty essential worldwide. Discover all its secrets!

What is Moroccan Black Soap?

Moroccan black soap is a creamy, brown to black paste, made from crushed black olives and potash. Unlike classic soaps, it does not lather but creates a unique creamy texture.

100% Natural Composition:

  • Macerated black olives
  • Olive oil, argan oil, or enriched with Aker Fassi
  • Vegetable potash
  • No chemical additives

The Exceptional Benefits of Black Soap

1. Deep Exfoliation

Black soap softens dead skin cells, facilitating their removal with the hammam glove. The result: baby-soft skin!

2. Intense Hydration

Rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, black soap deeply nourishes the skin without drying it out.

3. Natural Purification

It deeply cleanses pores, eliminates toxins, and regulates sebum production.

4. Natural Anti-Aging

The antioxidants present in black soap fight free radicals and prevent skin aging.

5. Soothes and Regenerates

Its anti-inflammatory properties soothe irritations and promote cell regeneration.

The Different Types of Black Soap

Olive Oil Black Soap

The most traditional and authentic. Ideal for deeply purifying and cleansing. Suitable for all skin types.

Argan Oil Black Soap

Enriched with argan oil, it offers superior hydration. Perfect for dry and sensitive skin.

Aker Fassi Black Soap

Enriched with dried poppy, it brightens the complexion and gives a healthy glow. Ideal for dull skin. How to Use Black Soap? Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Prepare Your Skin

Take a hot shower for 5 to 10 minutes to open your pores. Steam is essential for the effectiveness of black soap.

Step 2: Apply Black Soap

  1. Take a small amount of black soap
  2. Apply to damp skin, massaging your whole body
  3. Focus on rough areas (elbows, knees, heels)
  4. Leave on for 10 to 20 minutes

Tip: The longer you leave it on, the more effective the exfoliation will be!

Step 3: Exfoliation with Kessa Glove

  1. Lightly rinse the black soap with lukewarm water
  2. Use the hammam glove (kessa) with vigorous circular motions
  3. You will see dead skin roll off in small gray pellets
  4. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm then cold water

Step 4: Hydration

Finish by spraying rose water and applying a vegetable oil if necessary.

How Often Should You Use Black Soap?

Once a week for a full body exfoliation. You can use it twice a week if your skin is very thick or rough.

Warning: Do not use daily as it could irritate the skin.

Black Soap: For Whom?

Black soap is suitable for all skin types:

  • Oily skin: Regulates sebum and purifies
  • Dry skin: Hydrates thanks to natural oils (choose argan version)
  • Sensitive skin: Gentle and natural formula
  • Mature skin: Anti-aging and regenerating action

Mistakes to Avoid

Not wetting the skin - Black soap is applied to damp skin

Rubbing without letting it sit - Let it sit for at least 10 minutes

Using a too rough glove - The traditional kessa glove is perfect

Not rinsing enough - Rinse thoroughly to remove all dead skin
